Sweet, Warming Fragrance

Derived from resin, this delicious vanilla fragranced oil was traditionally used as an incense to dispel evil spirits. It has a warm, drying, comforting and rich odour and blends well with most oils.

It is soothing and stimulating at the same time making it very good for using with flu, colds, coughs and bronchitis, where it can soothe symptoms at the same time as helping to increase blood flow and clear mucus.

It is perhaps best know for its use as ‘Friar’s Balsam’ where it is inhaled to ease sore throats and treat loss of voice.

Its ability to get things moving in the body also makes it good for treating problems related to poor circulation such as gout, stomach pain caused by trapped wind, and urinary tract infections.

Benzoin can be applied to many kinds of skin lesions such as cracked and chapped skin, chilblains and blisters. It is particularly useful when added to hand or foot creams for people who suffering cracking and extreme dryness.

Its warming properties can also make it useful in massage for easing muscles and joints and the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

It is emotionally comforting, making it good for anyone suffering from loneliness and sadness, especially when combined with Rose or Neroli with their anti-depressant qualities.
